Russian President Vladimir Putin asked State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin to convey to the deputies the wishes of successful work in the interests of the Russians. Volodin himself announced this before the start of the plenary session of the spring session of the State Duma.

“Before the start of the plenary session, a conversation was held with the President [России Владимиром Путиным]. <...> Vladimir Vladimirovich asked to convey to the deputies the best wishes, successful work, efficiency in the interests of our citizens and the country,” he said.

In addition, Volodin told Putin about the plans of the State Duma for the upcoming session. During his speech, Volodin stressed that the spring session would be eventful. According to him, there are 1,365 documents in the legislative portfolio. At the end of 2022, 653 laws were adopted. For the first six months of 2023, the State Duma plans to approve about 100 bills.

Volodin also reminded the deputies of Putin’s main priorities: reducing poverty and increasing real wages.

About this head of state spoke at a meeting with members of the government on 11 January. “It is necessary to build economic policy measures in such a way that they lead to an increase in real wages and incomes of people, and together with measures of social support, especially for families with children, ensure a further reduction in poverty and inequality,” he said.
