Putin will not attend Prigozhin’s funeral

The presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the funeral of the founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin is not provided. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
“The presence of the President is not provided. We don’t have any specific information on funerals. Still, the decision on this matter is made by relatives and friends. We can’t say anything here without them,” he said.
By information portal 78.ru, Prigozhin’s funeral may take place at the Serafimovsky cemetery in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, August 29. However, the official date, time and place of the funeral were not disclosed.
The business jet Embraer-135 (EBM-135BJ), presumably with the founder of the Wagner PMC, crashed in the Tver region on August 23. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, Prigozhin, one of the leaders of Wagner, Dmitry Utkin, and eight other people, including three crew members, were on board the plane. The ICR opened a criminal case under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport).
August 24 Putin expressed condolences to the families of the victims. The President called the PMC employees “people who made a significant contribution to our common cause of fighting the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine,” and Prigozhin was a talented person.
