Russian President Vladimir Putin will announce his decision to participate in the upcoming presidential elections when he sees fit. This was stated by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“Putin will announce this (whether he will run for a new presidential term – “Ъ”), when it considers it necessary and appropriate. This will be entirely his decision,” the press secretary said. Dmitry Peskov emphasized that in his activities the head of state “relied and relies on the support of people” and noted that the main priority for the president is to improve the standard of living and well-being of people.

The current head of state, Vladimir Putin, has not yet announced his decision to run for a new term. Kommersant’s sources reported the formation of an initiative group to nominate him, but presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov then said that the Kremlin had not made decisions on this issue. December 7, Chairman of the party “A Just Russia – For Truth” Sergei Mironov reported about the intention to nominate Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the upcoming elections. The corresponding decision will be made at the party congress on December 23.

Russian presidential elections will pass on three days, March 15, 16 and 17, 2024. The decision on holding elections in the regions annexed to Russia will be made by the Central Election Commission before December 12 after consultations with the security forces.
