Putin: Western leaders played for time and engaged in “chicanery”

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began to protect the country and to eliminate the Nazi threat. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his address to the Federal Assembly.
Putin stressed that Russia was doing everything possible to solve the problem peacefully. “A completely different scenario was being prepared behind our back. They were just playing for time, doing chicanery,” the president said.
“We also remember the attempts of the Kyiv regime to acquire nuclear weapons. The US and NATO deployed [у границ России] their bases, secret biolaboratories, were preparing the Ukraine they had enslaved for war,” he said.
According to Putin, Russia was ready for a constructive dialogue with Western countries and offered to work on security systems for many years.
“I want to repeat this: it was they who unleashed the war, and we used force and are using it to stop it,” the head of state stressed.
