Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the government said that Western sanctions could still have a negative impact on the country’s economy. The head of state called for a steady increase in domestic demand to offset the possible consequences of sanctions restrictions.
“The illegitimate restrictions imposed on the Russian economy in the medium term may indeed have a negative impact on it,” Vladimir Putin said.
The head of state believes that in the current situation, domestic demand is becoming the leading factor in economic growth.
Earlier, Mr. Putin said that the West after the start of the military operation in Ukraine unfolded against Russia and the economic front. According to him, with the help of sanctions, “Western humanists” wanted to destabilize society from the inside through the suffering of Russians, but they did not succeed.
Speaking at the collegium of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office on March 15, President Putin said that the authorities must expand economic freedoms and reduce administrative barriers in response to sanctions from other countries.
