Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning visited the headquarters of the Southern Military District, which is located in Rostov-on-Don, said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

In the same place, the head of state delivered a New Year’s address to the Russians, which was shown at 15:00 Moscow time in Kamchatka, where the New Year has already arrived. The same appeal will be broadcast in all other regions of Russia, Peskov stressed.
Putin, in his longest New Year’s speech, which he delivered surrounded by the military, named 2022 was the year of “difficult decisions” and said that the Russians had shown courage and dignity. The head of state thanked the participants of the special operation in Ukraine for their fortitude and courage, expressing confidence that Russia would overcome all difficulties.
Earlier today Russian servicemen Happy New Year congratulated Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to him, 2022 “will forever enter the military chronicle of the Fatherland”, and Russia’s victory in the armed conflict in Ukraine, “like the New Year, is inevitable.”
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24.
