Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don, where he arrived after a trip to Kazakhstan, reported Kremlin press service.
“The Supreme Commander-in-Chief was introduced to new models of military equipment. The head of state heard reports on the progress of the special military operation,” the statement said.
At Putin’s headquarters, he was accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and other military leaders.
Last time Putin visited headquarters of the Southern Military District on October 20, then Gerasimov made a report, and the president held meetings with other representatives of the senior leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
Vladimir Putin visited Kazakhstan on November 9 on an official visit, during which he held talks with the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. As a result of the visit, a joint statement was adopted by the two presidents on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Good Neighborhood Treaty between the countries, and six other documents were signed. Among them are a joint action plan between the two countries for 2024–2026, a memorandum of the Ministry of Energy on the construction of the Kokshetau Thermal Power Plant, the Semey Thermal Power Plant and the Ust-Kamenogorsk Thermal Power Plant in Kazakhstan, an action plan between the Federal Customs Service and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, etc. .
The leaders of the two countries made statements to the media. Putin also spoke about the effectiveness of the negotiations, the growth of trade turnover and the expansion of the use of national currencies in mutual settlements to 75%. According to him, there are issues that require “certain coordination and clarification of the numbers” in the energy sector, and Russia is ready to meet Kazakhstan halfway.
