The rights and freedoms of Russians are guaranteed by the Constitution and are unshakable, we must not forget this, declared Russian President Vladimir Putin speaking at the 10th All-Russian Congress of Judges.
“The rights and freedoms of our citizens are guaranteed by the Constitution, they are inviolable. We must never forget this,” he said.
Putin stressed that the work of judges is directly related to the protection of the rights, freedoms, legitimate interests and dignity of citizens, and the fate of people depends on their professional and personal qualities. This explains the high demands placed on the judiciary by the society, he noted.
Therefore, the main focus of the 10th Congress should be to improve the quality, fairness and accessibility of justice, Putin said.
Earlier in November, Putin signed Decree amending the composition of the Human Rights Council. In particular, the special war correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda Alexander Kots, a member of the presidium of the Free Donbass Elena Shishkina, the head of the regional executive committee of the All-Russian Popular Front Yulia Belekhova and others were included in the HRC.
At the same time, 10 people were expelled from the HRC, including journalists Ekaterina Vinokurova and Nikolai Svanidze, Ivan Zasursky, former head of the Department of New Media at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, human rights activist Igor Kalyapin, and others.
