Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Russian banks not to fear sanctions and to begin active work in new regions – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. At the same time, he noted the successes in restoring the economy in these territories, including industrial sectors.

“We have established support for farmers, banks and shops are operating. As for the banks, I would like to draw the attention of our colleagues, they will definitely hear us: there is nothing to be afraid of, everything was already what they were afraid of, before the sanctions, everything has already happened, what is there to be afraid of. We need to enter these territories more actively and work there,” Mr. Putin said at meeting on the socio-economic development of new regions.

According to the president, as part of the economic and social development of new regions, it is necessary not only to restore existing enterprises, schools and hospitals, but also to create new facilities and jobs.

“In less than two years, more than two thousand kilometers of roads, about six and a half thousand residential buildings and social facilities have been restored in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and many of them were, in fact, built anew,” said Vladimir Putin . About 2 million people, according to the head of state, receive pensions, benefits and other social benefits; next year approximately 3 million will receive them.

The first Russian bank to start operating in new territories was PSB. The bank’s network in new regions includes more than 200 branches. Also operating in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are RostFinance Bank, the International Settlement Bank and the Center for International Settlements.
