Putin: the whole country is worried about the death of the Russian military in Makeyevka

The whole country is worried about the death of 89 Russian servicemen in Makiivka as a result of rocket fire from the armed forces of Ukraine on New Year’s Eve, declared Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At a meeting with the president, the governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, said that as a result of the shelling, servicemen called up from the region were killed. The tragedy was a heavy blow and a test for the inhabitants of the region, who mourn and experience together with the families and friends of the victims.

“The whole country is worried,” Putin said.

The governor noted that already on January 4, he visited the wounded soldiers from the Samara region in the Rostov military hospital and in hospitals in Makeevka. According to him, the wounded residents of Samara expressed their desire to be treated at the Samara military hospital. After that, they were delivered to Samara on two sides, the governor recalled. At the same time, some of the wounded were later sent for treatment to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Azarov also said that the Samara region was the first region in which social passports for families of military personnel appeared. “We knew about the composition of the family, about the issues, problems that exist, and tried to be in constant contact with the families of military personnel,” he said.

In the region, according to him, the families of military personnel are supported in terms of providing medical, psychological assistance, rehabilitation assistance, placement of children in kindergartens, schools and universities.

As a result of the Ukrainian strike on the night of January 1 at Makiivka, according to the Ministry of Defense, 89 Russian servicemen were killed. They also reported that the main reason for the tragedy was the inclusion and massive use, contrary to the ban, by personnel of mobile phones, which allowed the enemy to track and determine the coordinates of the military personnel for a missile attack.

On February 21, during his address to the Federal Assembly, Putin announced on the creation of a special state fund, the task of which is targeted assistance to veterans of the military special operation and the families of the victims. The Fund will deal with the full range of support for these categories of citizens: psychological, medical assistance, employment assistance, entrepreneurship development, advanced training, long-term home care, etc. On March 23, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the fund will work throughout Russia in the coming months.
