Putin: Western counterparties of the Russian Federation always turn everything around and interpret it in their favor

Western aggression against the former Yugoslavia showed that Western countries interpret any situation in their favor, President Vladimir Putin said in Andrei Kondrashov’s film “Belgrade.” A fragment of the film was shown by the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

He noted that that story gives Russia a reason to draw some conclusions.

“After all, our Western counterparties – they always turn everything exclusively in their favor and interpret everything in their favor,” Putin said.

He also said that in 2014 he talked with one of the Western leaders and reminded him that almost all NATO members were included in the anti-Yugoslav coalition, while there was no UN Security Council resolution on this matter. At the same time, according to him, his Western colleague explained the aggression against Yugoslavia by the fact that “there was a civil war for eight years, people died, and it was necessary to put an end to it.”

“So go to the Security Council, get permission and act. No, they did it just like that,” Putin said.

At the same time, Putin also emphasized that now there is every reason to remember 2014, when a war was launched against Donbass, which rebelled against the Kyiv regime, which lasted 8 years before the start of a special military operation.
