Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russians on Cosmonautics Day. With a keynote speech dedicated to the success and prospects of the industry, the head of state made a speech at a reception in the Kremlin.

“From the bottom of my heart I congratulate the citizens of Russia, our compatriots, all those who work in the rocket and space industry and, of course, its veterans, servicemen of the Russian Aerospace Forces who are doing their duty during a special military operation on this holiday,” Mr. Putin said. .

The head of state noted that the conquerors of space of the past years are an example for new generations in solving the problems of “strengthening technological sovereignty.” According to Mr. Putin, the Russian space industry is consistently building up its potential.

“Thank God, for the first time in recent history was held 100 accident-free space launches in a row… Of course, this is a very good indicator that the industry is getting back on its feet. But, of course, we need to go further, conquer new frontiers,” the president stressed.

One of these frontiers, Mr. Putin is sure, will be a new domestic orbital station. The head of state believes that the object will become an outpost of Russia in space.

“We need to create sovereign space systems and a new generation of component base, to carry out the design of the Russian orbital station, which is designed to become an outpost of our country, to serve the study and exploration of space. Specialists know that the new station will be sent, among other things, to solve the problems that our country faces in the broadest sense of the word,” Mr. Putin said.

In addition, the president pointed out, Russia needs to increase the production of domestic satellites for various tasks.

“We need to focus on the use of near-Earth space. To do this, together with the technology business, it is necessary to increase the production of satellites, move from development work to assembly line,” the head of state emphasized.

Another area that Russian cosmonautics should focus on is interplanetary missions, the president said. To begin, according to the head of state, should be with the resumption of the lunar program.

“First of all, we are talking about the speedy resumption of our lunar program, about missions to other planets of the solar system, about the development of observatories that are already helping to gain new knowledge about the evolution of the Universe, discovering dozens of stars at the very edge of the Galaxy and objects in systems distant from us,”— summed up Mr. Putin.

The program of the gala reception is crowned by the premiere screening of the film “The Challenge”, partly filmed in outer space. The President highly appreciated the importance of the release of the film.

“We are the first to shoot a full-length feature film aboard a spacecraft. I want to thank everyone who took part in the creation of this picture. It is a unique event for world cinema,” the President noted.

A few hours before the reception, Vladimir Putin met with the head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov. During this meeting, the head of state also congratulated industry workers on the holiday, and also highly appreciated the role of the space industry in the life of the country.
