President Vladimir Putin sent video message participants of the extended board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. In it, he appreciated the coherence of the Ministry of Emergency Situations system and thanked the department’s employees for their assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip.

“The assistance of Emergency Situations Ministry employees to victims of powerful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and the prompt evacuation of Russian citizens from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and other crisis areas deserve high praise,” the president said.

The evacuation of Russians from the Gaza Strip was completed on December 18, 2023. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in total more than 1,050 citizens were taken out of the conflict zone and delivered to Russia. The first Russians were evacuated from the Gaza Strip in early November. All foreigners living in the enclave were transported through the Rafah checkpoint to Cairo, after which they were delivered to Russia on special boards of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
