Putin supported the spread of preferential mortgages at 2% for young families in the Arctic

The head of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East, Alexei Chekunkov, informed Vladimir Putin about the development, together with the Ministry of Finance, of a mechanism for providing preferential mortgages at 2% for the Arctic. The Minister asked the President to support this idea, he agreed. Preferential mortgages for young families in the region will be valid until 2023.
This topic was raised at a meeting on the development of closed administrative-territorial entities and Arctic cities. According to Mr. Chekunkov, on every trip to the Arctic regions, without exception, people asked about the possibility of extending the Far Eastern mortgage to the Arctic.
“We worked with Anton Germanovich Siluanov (Head of the Ministry of Finance.— “b”) possible solutions and found a mechanism that will attract new developers to the Arctic, while not driving up the price per square meter. This is a condition under which a preferential mortgage at 2% is provided only for new housing in the primary market, and at the price of the Ministry of Construction, ”said the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Mr. Putin approved this proposal. “I think that such a measure can become a serious support for citizens living in the Arctic zone. We know the results of this preferential mortgage at 2% in the Far East. I agree to extend it to young families living in the Arctic zone,” the president said.
According to the forecast of the NRA rating agency, the volume of mortgage loans in 2023 will grow by 15-20%, but may not reach the bankers’ optimistic estimates of 6 trillion rubles. The driver will remain preferential loans, the share of which will exceed 54%, and the main part will fall on family mortgages. Citizens will have to choose between expensive primary housing at low rates and cheaper secondary housing at higher rates.
