Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the intention of the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, to run for a new term in the upcoming autumn elections. The head of state emphasized that the choice remains with the residents of the republic.

“In general, everything works out. And there are many plans, and the results are good. Therefore, for my part, I will do everything to support you. Well, the choice, of course, will be up to the people,” Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Radiy Khabirov. (quote from website Kremlin).

At the meeting, the head of state and the republic discussed the development of the region, agriculture, as well as investment projects in Bashkiria. Vladimir Putin recommended that Mr. Khabirov “directly communicate and meet more often” with local residents, since all the problems of the region “you can’t see from the office.” Separately, the head of state drew Radiy Khabirov’s attention to the shortage of emergency doctors in the republic.

Vladimir Putin appointed Radiy Khabirov to head Bashkiria in October 2018. In 2019, he won the elections. His term of office expires in the fall of 2024.
