Putin spoke by phone with the President of Uzbekistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. About it informs Kremlin press office.
“Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the early presidential elections held on July 9,” the message says.
The presidents also confirmed their intention to further develop relations between Russia and Uzbekistan “on the principles of alliance and strategic partnership.”
Formerly Putin sent Mirziyoyev a congratulatory telegram in connection with his re-election to the post of President of the Republic. The Russian leader called Mirziyoyev’s victory convincing and noted that this indicates the broad support of the people for the policy pursued by the incumbent president.
Earlier today, the CEC of the republic informedthat Mirziyoyev wins the presidential election with 87.05% of the vote. According to the agency, the turnout in the elections was 79.8% (15.6 million citizens of the country voted).
The presidential elections in Uzbekistan were held ahead of schedule on July 9. Already by 11:00 elections recognized held, since the turnout exceeded the required threshold and amounted to 33.54%. Voting ended at 20:00 (18:00 Moscow time) on the same day.
In May, the Constitution of Uzbekistan was amended, according to which Mirziyoyev received the right to run for this post twice more. If he wins the current and future elections, he will be able to lead the country until 2037. His mandate before the amendments expired in 2026. Mirziyoyev won the previous election in 2021, gaining more than 80% of the vote.
