Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at the closing ceremony of the World Youth Festival in Sochi. In his speech, the President paid attention to issues of domestic and foreign policy.

“They (the USA) created a monopoly and began to strengthen it. I don’t mean the American people, but the ruling elites, but by strengthening this monopoly, they very quickly encountered something that the vast majority of countries in the world don’t really like,” said Vladimir Putin (quoted by TASS).

“A certain community is being created here, a united Russian nation. It is truly based on those values that we call traditional today, even if we are not very aware of what they are. In this sense, Russian general culture is to a certain extent unique,” the president said in his speech (quoted from RIA Novosti).

Vladimir Putin noted that any war and any military action is a tragedy. “It is always a tragedy when people fight with each other. People die, get injured, and so on,” he said. “Of course, we need to strive to create conditions where there will be fewer conflicts and more cooperation,” he added.

The World Youth Festival started in Sochi on March 2.
