“The issue of recognizing the genocide against the civilian population of the Soviet Union is extremely important,” the president said. He also recalled that assessments on this issue were given at the trial, but this is not enough. But the delay in making a comprehensive decision on this issue was, according to Vladimir Putin at that moment, understandable: during the process, “it was impossible even to consider and present all the facts testifying to this genocide.”
