President Vladimir Putin with his by decree increased the number of staff of the central apparatus of the Federal Security Service.

According to the document, from January 1, 2024, the staff of the central office is 775 people, and from January 1, 2025 it will increase to 785 people. Currently, the central office of the FSO employs 760 people. The reasons for the need to increase the number are not specified in the presidential decree.

In 2023, Vladimir Putin increased the number of FSO management employees from 725 to 760 people.

The FSO is one of the Russian special services, the management of which is personally controlled by the head of state. The FSO is entrusted with ensuring the security of the country’s top officials – the president, the prime minister, the heads of the two chambers of parliament, the chairmen of the courts of higher jurisdiction and the prosecutor general.

By decision of the president, security may be allocated to a wider circle. Thus, about three dozen government officials work under the protection of the FSO, among whom are the secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the head of the Central Bank, and plenipotentiary representatives of the head of state in the federal districts.
