Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on spring conscription for military service. The document has already been published. From April 1 to July 15, 150 thousand people aged 18 to 30 will be drafted into the army.
At the same time, those citizens who have turned 27 years old until the end of 2023 will not be subject to conscription. These citizens become liable for military reserve and are not subject to conscription in 2024. And those who are 28 or 29 years old are already in the reserves and are also not subject to conscription. Also, a deferment from conscription for military service is provided to citizens working in accredited IT companies until they reach 30 years of age.
The conscription is carried out in accordance with Federal Law No. 53-FZ.
The Russian Ministry of Defense previously clarified that the recruits will not participate in a special military operation, and will not be sent to serve in new regions of Russia. As Vladimir Tsimlyansky, Deputy Chief of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, clarified, the conscripts will be sent to points of permanent deployment of formations and military units on Russian territory.
By the same decree, the president ordered the dismissal from military service of soldiers, sailors, sergeants and foremen whose term of military service under conscription had expired.
