Putin said he accepted an invitation to visit China in October

Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to come to China for the “One Belt, One Road” forum in October. He announced this during negotiations with the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the head of the office of the CPC Central Committee Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi in St. Petersburg.
“Of course, I accepted with pleasure the invitation of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China to visit China in October this year as part of a major event to promote the idea of Chairman Xi Jinping, which has the international brand “One Belt, One Road,” Putin said.
Earlier on September 19, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev statedthat Putin may hold talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing in October as part of the “One Belt, One Road” forum.
September 1 Putin toldthat he will soon hold a meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China. Prior to this, in July, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin might visit China. Russia has received an invitation to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing in October 2023, he explained.
Chinese President Xi Jinping came to Russia on an official visit in March 2023. Then he invited Putin to visit China “at a time convenient for him” in 2023.
Earlier today, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov announced preparations for Putin’s visit to China. He did not specify specific dates for the trip, noting that the Kremlin will inform about this in a timely manner. In August he clarifiedthat the leaders of China and Russia plan to discuss trade and economic cooperation and the situation in the world. China plans to sign joint documents during this visit.
