The peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan have always been and remain good neighbors and true friends. About it stated Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper.
“The main thing is that our peoples have always been and remain good neighbors and true friends. <...> Whatever the situation in the world, I look with confidence into the future of our allied relations and integration partnership,” he said.
Putin also pointed to his friendly relations with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to him, they regularly call each other and meet in different formats to “compare notes” on the bilateral agenda and on issues of multilateral interaction. Putin described the level of Russian-Kazakh ties as high.
The Russian leader also spoke about the “privileged nature” of the partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan. He noted that it is based on the principles of “mutual respect, recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs.”
Putin gave an interview to a Kazakh newspaper ahead of his official visit to Kazakhstan on November 9. The Kremlin reported that the Russian President will meet with Tokayev. During the negotiations, they will discuss issues of further development of bilateral relations, prospects for interaction within the framework of integration associations in the Eurasian space, as well as current regional and international problems.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov earlier clarifiedthat Putin’s trip to Kazakhstan is not related to the interest of European states in establishing relations with Kazakhstan, since Moscow and Astana have historically developed independent relations.
