Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to increase the tax deduction for education for children to 110,000 rubles, and for their own education, treatment and purchase of medicines – up to 150,000 rubles. This was stated by the head of state during his address to the Federal Assembly.
“I propose to increase the size of the social tax deduction for the cost of educating children from the current 50,000 rubles. up to 110,000 rubles. per year, and for the cost of their own education, as well as for treatment and the purchase of medicines – from 120,000 rubles. up to 150,000 rubles,” he said.
In Russia, there are several types of tax deductions: property (for buying, building and selling housing and paying off mortgages), social (for charity, treatment, education, sports, funded pension), investment (for owners of individual investment accounts, brokerage accounts for long-term possession of papers and bank deposits), professional (for the return of part of the costs of conducting private professional activities), standard (for privileged categories of citizens and families with children).
