Putin proposed to abolish inspections of non-risk businesses

If the business is not associated with high risks of harm to humans and the environment, then it should not be checked. This was stated by the President during his speech at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
He noted that the number of business inspections has significantly decreased in Russia. In 2022, there were 339,000 screening events, which is 20% less than in covid 2020 and almost five times less than in 2019.
“This is a good indicator, but there is a “but”. If a business is not associated with high risks of harm to citizens or the environment, it should not be inspected at all – either routinely or unscheduled. Enough preventive measures,” the president said.
“And we will continue to work to reduce administrative pressure,” Putin added.
Business Ombudsman Boris Titov spoke about a 70% reduction in business inspections. This is a record low figure, which is due to the introduction of a moratorium on inspections and control and supervisory activities. Titov added that departments began to use warnings more often in the total share of punishments. The indicator increased from 22.49% to 41.7%.
