Putin proposed introducing an academic course on the foundations of statehood

Russian youth, against the backdrop of the current geopolitical situation, found themselves under powerful information attacks, declared Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the State Council on the implementation of youth policy. In order to combat this phenomenon, it is necessary to develop a course on the basics of Russian statehood, he added.

“The content of youth projects is of particular importance today. In connection with the well-known events of a geopolitical nature, young people fell under a flurry of information attacks and found themselves in a very vulnerable position,” he said.

This information confrontation has always existed, but now it has become especially acute, the president noted. The task of the state is to give young people “a strong support in the form of reliable knowledge”, for which it is necessary to develop a separate academic course dedicated to the history and foundations of Russian statehood, the president added.

The last time a meeting of the large State Council in person was held on December 26, 2019 (that is, before the very concept of the State Council was inscribed in the Constitution) and was devoted to the implementation of agrarian policy. After that, meetings of the Presidium of the State Council were mainly held, only on December 23, 2020, the President held a joint meeting of the State Council and the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects. Due to the pandemic, it was held via video conferencing.

Earlier in July, Putin signed a law on the creation of the Russian movement of children and youth, an analogue of the pioneers. At the end of July, it became known that the president headed the supervisory board of this movement.
