President Vladimir Putin said that starting from 2020, the minimum wage in Russia has increased by one and a half times. By 2030, it should almost double again – to 35 thousand rubles, the president said during his address to the Federal Assembly.
“Starting from 2020, the minimum wage has increased one and a half times – from 12 thousand to 19 thousand rubles. per month. By 2030, the minimum wage should almost double again – to 35 thousand,” said Vladimir Putin.
The President noted that this will affect the amount of social benefits, salaries in the public sector and in sectors of the economy. The government previously reportedthat as a result of increasing the minimum wage in 2024, wages will increase for 4.8 million people.
Vladimir Putin recalled that by the end of 2023, the number of people below the poverty line had dropped to 13.5 million people. “Of course, and that’s a lot. But we are keeping the solution to the problem under constant attention,” he added.
The President called for improving the wage system in the public sector. He drew attention to the different income levels in different regions. According to the head of state, the spread of salaries from region to region is unfair. Mr. Putin asked the government to work out a new model of remuneration for public sector employees in 2025 as part of pilot projects, and in 2026 to make a final decision for the entire country.
