Putin: Pashinyan will come to the Russian Federation after the situation with the Karabakh Armenians is normalized

Moscow and Yerevan have a schedule of joint work. The leaders of the countries are ready to visit each other after the situation with the Armenians of Karabakh is normalized. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting with journalists in Kyrgyzstan.

Putin confirmed that he is in constant contact with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The President of the Russian Federation has been invited to Armenia, and his colleague to Russia.

“But we are all adults, we understand what is happening there. This is the tragedy of the Armenians of Karabakh. He probably has no time for traveling right now. But we remain in contact, work with him, and are constantly in touch. That’s why, [когда] a normal situation will develop, and I will go to see them, and they will come, and he will come,” Putin assured.

According to the Russian leader, the services of the two countries, including the ministries of foreign affairs and economic blocs of governments, work in constant contact.

Answering questions from journalists about the future of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Putin statedthat “Armenia is not leaving the CIS anywhere.” He also admitted that he called Pashinyan and discussed, among other things, the 2023 CIS summit.

On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” to “restorate the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations. As a result of the conflict, by October 1, 100,514 ethnic Armenians out of 120,000 nominally declared by the NKR authorities left the region, most of them settled in neighboring Armenia.
