Putin on Western sanctions: they wanted to make Russian citizens suffer

The West tried to make Russian citizens suffer with its sanctions. Such a statement, referring to the words of some Western politicians, was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a speech at the VTB forum “Russia is calling!” in Moscow, commenting on the introduction of Western sanctions.
“As some Western colleagues expressed, they wanted to make our citizens suffer. These were the humanistic plans for Russian citizens,” the head of state said.
According to him, Western elites are trying to slow down the growth of the “global periphery”, which they use as a colony.
In addition, Putin emphasized that despite the sanctions, the Russian economy has proven that it can respond to the most difficult challenges and has also demonstrated a fundamental margin of strength.
