Putin: the liberation of Marinka will give Russian troops wider operational space
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu after the head of the defense department’s report on the complete capture of Marinka, named the significance of this success for the further solution of the tasks of a special military operation.
The head of state noted that since 2014, Ukrainian forces have been building a significant number of reinforced concrete fortifications and communication passages in Marinka.
“Having broken into this fortified area, our troops have the opportunity to enter a wider operational space,” the Supreme Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
At the same time, Putin noted that, of course, this is a question for the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense and local commanders. The head of state called the issue of further advancement a separate topic, but emphasized that such an opportunity is emerging in this area.
Sergei Shoigu, in turn, added that with the liberation of Marinka, Russian troops quite significantly moved Ukrainian artillery away from Donetsk, which will make it possible to more effectively protect the city from attacks.
