Putin met with Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov

Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, spoke about the results of the department’s work, reported Kremlin press service.

Krasnov noted that prosecutors are working to comply with the law in various areas, including “taking into account the geopolitical situation and the external situation.” The Prosecutor General emphasized that the department is systematically fulfilling the tasks that the head of state identified at the board of the department in March 2023.

According to Krasnov, the prosecutor’s office “around the clock” monitors the situation with respect for the rights of military personnel and conscripts, as well as members of their families. He said that there were recorded cases of failure to provide medical care, refusals of rehabilitation means, and refusal of insurance payments in connection with the death of soldiers.

During the meeting with the president, the Prosecutor General assured that the department will make every effort to ensure that there are as few business inspections as possible. “Our most important, key criterion remains the principle of not conducting inspections at non-hazardous facilities. Of course, we understand that each exit of controllers must be considered taking into account the existing risks,” he added.

Krasnov reported on work in the field of “deoffshorization of the Russian economy” and protecting the interests of state property. In particular, the courts satisfied more than 24,000 claims for the illegal loss of state property worth more than 187 billion rubles. The department also achieved the withdrawal of a number of key enterprises from foreign control, Krasnov said.

Residents are still “acutely interested” in violations in the housing and communal services sector and inflated tariffs, Krasnov clarified. An audit of compliance with legislation in the field of electricity and gas supply made it possible to exclude unreasonable expenses in the amount of more than 5 billion rubles.

At the meeting, Putin specifically thanked Krasnov for his work in the defense-industrial sector.

An extended meeting of the department’s board was held in March 2023. During the event, the head of state named the priority task of overseeing the timely fulfillment of supply obligations for the needs of the military operation, as well as the modernization of enterprises and increasing capacity for additional weapons.
