Putin linked the fate of the returning relocants with their attitude towards Russia

A person who has violated moral and ethical norms against his homeland will feel this after returning to Russia, and the attitude towards him will depend on how he behaved, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At a press conference in Bishkek, the head of state was asked to indicate his position regarding businessman Mikhail Fridman and other people who decided to return. He was also asked whether their history of relations with the state could be reset if there were any “blots” in it.

“The future of each of us depends on what we do today. This concerns everyone,” the president said.

According to him, Russia is a free country and people have the right to choose where to live. Putin “does not see anything immoral in this,” but the question lies in the behavior and actions of this person. “If these actions are such that they violate the current laws in Russia, then, naturally, everyone must answer for this, wherever he is – here or abroad. This is the first,” the president explained.

“Second, what awaits this or that person upon returning to his homeland? This also depends on how he behaved. It’s one thing to break the law, and another thing to violate some moral and ethical standards in relation to one’s homeland,” he clarified.

According to the president, if in the minds of the overwhelming majority – “not some part of some elite” – a person behaved immorally towards Russia, then he will feel this when he returns to the country.

October 12 State Duma instructed the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption to check and hold artists, businessmen and bloggers who return to Russia accountable for discrediting the army and making anti-Russian statements. The check will also be carried out against Fridman, TV presenter Ivan Urgant and comedian Maxim Galkin (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation).
