Putin linked Kant’s philosophy with current Russian politics

Russian President Vladimir Putin connected Kant’s philosophy with the current politics of Russia. At a meeting with university students in the Kaliningrad region on Student’s Day, the head of state called the German philosopher Immanuel Kant one of the great thinkers, noting that his calls to live by one’s own mind are still relevant today.

“Immanuel Kant believed that it is possible to logically prove the existence of God – are these complex things? But they are very interesting, it makes sense to read and delve into what he said, what he wrote, and what he thought,” – Putin said.

The head of state noted that for Russia, Kant’s call to live by one’s own mind in practical terms means being guided by one’s national interests.

“This is what we are trying to do,” the Russian leader emphasized.

Also Putin at the meeting announced an increase in the size of the presidential scholarship up to 30 thousand rubles.
