On National Unity Day on November 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky on Red Square in Moscow.
Along with the president, representatives of Russian religious associations were present on Red Square, including Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia Rabbi Alexander Boroda.
National Unity Day is a public holiday celebrated in Russia on November 4th. It was established on the initiative of the Interreligious Council of Russia and was first celebrated in 2005. In accordance with Federal Law No. 201-FZ of December 29, 2004, the holiday is a day off.
