Putin invited Deputy Finance Minister Kotyukov to head the Krasnoyarsk Territory

Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Deputy Finance Minister Mikhail Kotyukov to become acting governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. He thanked the head of state for his trust and accepted his offer. The current governor, Alexander Uss, said earlier that he had received an offer from Vladimir Putin to move to another job at the federal level.

The President held a meeting with Mikhail Kotyukov via video. The head of state noted that the deputy minister comes from the Krasnoyarsk Territory and rose to the rank of deputy governor in his native region. In this position, as the president noted, Mr. Kotyukov was engaged in economics, finance, higher education and science in the region. “What can I say, you are aware, in the “material” of what the Krasnoyarsk Territory is for Russia, its significance for the country as a whole,” the president said (quoted from site Kremlin).

“It seems to me that they have come quite close to heading such an important subject of the Russian Federation as the Krasnoyarsk Territory,” Mr. Putin concluded.

Mikhail Kotyukov assured the president: “I will use all my potential, which I have accumulated, all the opportunities that I have today, to solve the most pressing, topical issues for the inhabitants of my native land.”

When asked about the priorities for the development of the region, Mr. Kotyukov replied that “fundamentally important, priority issues are social support for participants in a special military operation, their family members who live in the region.” He also listed the areas of climate, energy, transport and communal infrastructure that are traditionally sensitive for the region.

“I am sure that the transfer of cases will take place in a businesslike, comradely manner, and if there is a need, you can always rely on what has been done, on his experience in leading the region. Here I have no doubts that the business atmosphere will be ensured,” the President concluded.

Earlier today, April 20, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss informedthat received an offer from President Vladimir Putin to continue work at the federal level. According to RBC, Alexander Uss will take the post of senator of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Alexander Uss became governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in 2018, gaining 60.2% of the vote in the elections. His term of office expires this year. In early February, Kommersant sources reportedthat in the presidential administration the position of Mr. Uss as the head of the region is assessed poorly. However, Kommersant’s interlocutors did not present an unambiguous forecast for his resignation at that time.
