Putin instructed to provide families with additional support to increase the birth rate

Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects called the demographic situation in the country difficult. According to him, the state needs to support families, expectant mothers, so that the situation changes.

According to the President, at the moment fewer children are born in the country than a year ago. “Yes, in some months of this year her (birth rate. — “b”) the rates were higher, it’s true, we know that, they were higher than last year, but on the whole the trend wants to be better,” Mr. Putin said (cited by Interfax).

He noted that today programs to increase the birth rate are working in all regions of Russia. They implement instructions on additional measures in the field of demography. “And I ask the federal government to provide all necessary assistance to colleagues in the successful implementation of these programs,” the head of state added.

“The task is really worth it, that we need to additionally support families, expectant mothers, support our traditional values. To unite the forces of the state, society, religious denominations and together achieve a turning point in the situation. And it is now difficult, because we are again fully faced with the consequences of the demographic failures of the past decades,” Vladimir Putin concluded.

In May, the Ministry of Labor announced measures to increase the birth rate. Among them are improving the living standards of families and their incomes, improving housing conditions, increasing the availability of childcare services, guarantees for families with many children, and approving local programs to increase the birth rate in the regions. Also among these measures is the strengthening of traditional values, including amendments regarding the ban on LGBT propaganda and gender reassignment.
