It is necessary to increase the share of domestic medicines and strengthen independence from foreign pharmaceutical suppliers. This task was set by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the opening ceremony of new pharmaceutical production in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg and Saransk, transmits Kremlin press office.
“It is important for us to increase the production of Russian substances, to increase the share of domestic drugs on the domestic market, including original ones, to strengthen our independence from suppliers from abroad, especially from those suppliers who sometimes create a lot of difficulties for us,” he said.
According to Putin, to achieve this, it is necessary to modernize equipment, build new production facilities, as well as “increase the human and material and technical potential of research laboratories and centers” and improve the training of pharmacists, pharmacists and technologists.
The President today took part in the opening of new pharmaceutical production facilities in three cities – the Biochemist plant in Saransk, OTCPharm Pro in Kaliningrad, and the second phase of the Pharmasyntez-Nord plant in St. Petersburg. Putin stressed that industries such as those that are opening today bring “tangible benefits” to the economy and create new jobs.
Putin added that the state would continue to support the pharmaceutical industry. According to Putin, this year the state will provide investment loans at a preferential rate for “creating capacities for the synthesis of pharmaceutical substances and the production of medicines in a full cycle.” Putin also noted that the Russian pharmaceutical industry is showing stable positive dynamics, and expressed confidence that this industry will continue to develop.
