Putin instructed to increase the salaries of state employees at the beginning of next year

The Russian government should ensure at the beginning of next year the growth rates of salaries of state employees, as an average in the economy, corresponding to assignment given by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Ensure an increase in early 2023 of the wage fund for employees of public sector institutions based on the actual growth rate at the end of 2022 of the average monthly accrued wages of employees employed in the economy, providing for a further adjustment of the said wage fund in 2023 in accordance with with the dynamics of the growth rate of the average monthly accrued wages of employees employed in the economy,” the text of the decree says.

The government was also instructed to ensure the unconditional achievement of target indicators for the level of salaries of certain categories of state employees.

At a meeting held on November 30, Putin declaredthat now only 10 regions are meeting the targets for salaries of state employees, “and even then not by 100%.” He recalled that for the regions a deviation from the target indicators by 5% is acceptable. Those subjects of the Russian Federation that need help will have to receive additional funding.

At the same time, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, on the sidelines of the Federation Council, announced that the growth of public sector salaries next year will be eight%. He noted that pensions, as planned, will increase by 1,000 rubles. The Minister also added that the salaries of law enforcement officers and the military are growing at a slightly faster pace. These indicators are included in the federal budget for 2023-2025, he stressed.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Economics, the average monthly salary in Russia in 2022 will be will increase by more than 6,600 rubles, or by 11.6% compared to the level of 2021, and will amount to 63,888 rubles. In 2023, the department expects an increase in the indicator by almost 6,000 rubles, or 8.7%, to 69,452 rubles. In 2024 and 2025 salary will grow to 74,804 and 80,028 rubles. respectively.
