Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to form a government commission to eliminate the consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Order published on the Kremlin website.

“Form a government commission to eliminate the consequences of a large-scale flood in the Kherson region caused by sabotage at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station,” the document says.

The commission should be formed today, June 9th.

On June 8, the Kremlin reported that Putin discussed with Acting Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo the situation in the region after the breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Following the conversation, the head of state instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations to provide all necessary assistance to flood-affected households in full compliance with Russian standards. The President also instructed to analyze the needs of the region in connection with the consequences of the breakthrough.

Earlier, Saldo reported that after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station from the Kherson region evacuated 5000 people. Among them are 178 children and 62 people with limited mobility. Saldo specified that there are about 1,000 people in temporary accommodation centers (TACs). According to him, 121 buses are involved in the evacuation.

The breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which reached more than 11 m. A local emergency regime was introduced on the territory of the district, and an emergency regime was also introduced on the territory of the Kherson region. Putin called the undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station a barbaric action by Kyiv.
