Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Ministry of Defense, together with government customers and interested executive authorities, is already forming a new state weapons program, which will operate from 2025 to 2034. He announced this at a meeting of the military-industrial commission in Izhevsk. Mr. Putin instructed to clarify the scope of the state program, since it is being created taking into account the special operation.
“Due to a number of factors, the need for weapons, military and special equipment is increasing significantly. This is due to the implementation of the Northern Military District, unprecedented sanctions pressure on Russia and the growth in the size of our armed forces, the emergence of new units and formations,” said Mr. Putin (quoted from “Interfax”).
He added that in order to formulate a draft program, it is necessary to “clarify the initial data and volumes of resource provision.” The State Armaments Program, as Vladimir Putin said, is a key strategic planning document. He added that the program is “crucial” for strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
At the commission meeting, the head of state also noted that the production volume of armored vehicles “has more than doubled compared to last year,” and also ordered to increase the production volume of counter-battery and air defense equipment.
