Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the year-round greenhouse complex during his trip to Anadyr.

VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin in Telegram channel published videos in which Mr. Putin was shown Chukchi tomatoes of the Svyatogor variety, as well as cucumbers and basil.

The owner of the greenhouse complex, Natalya Makatrova, who gave Vladimir Putin a tour, boasted that the tomatoes grown in the complex are better than those imported. She clarified that the tomatoes “turned out the first time.”

Vegetables grown in a greenhouse, according to Ms. Makatrova, are cheaper. “Our cucumber costs 500 rubles in the store, a tomato costs 650 rubles, ours. And the imported one costs 1 thousand rubles, 1.1 thousand rubles, 1.2 thousand rubles,” she clarified.

Agency “RIA News” writes that 79 tons of food are grown at the greenhouse station per year – about 20% of the vegetables purchased in Anadyr. 320.8 million rubles were invested in the complex itself. Greenhouses occupy 0.24 hectares.

Previously Vladimir Putin arrived to Chukotka on a working visit. The previous time a Russian president visited the region was in 2008, when Dmitry Medvedev held the position.
