Putin, in a conversation with Lula da Silva, confirmed his readiness for dialogue on Ukraine

The Presidents of Russia and Brazil, Vladimir Putin and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the worsening situation in the Middle East, the Ukrainian crisis and interaction within the BRICS and G20. About it reports Kremlin press service.

During the conversation, Putin shared his assessments of the “destructive line” of Kiev and the West, and also again emphasized Russia’s readiness for dialogue on Ukraine, provided that Kiev fulfills Russian conditions, and taking into account “new realities.” Lula da Silva called for resolving the conflict through political and diplomatic means.

Discussing the topic of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the presidents expressed concern about the growing number of civilian casualties and emphasized the importance of an early ceasefire. They also pointed out the need to evacuate citizens from the Gaza Strip and ensure access to the enclave for humanitarian aid.

The parties also expressed their desire to continue to closely cooperate within the framework of BRICS and the G20 and develop cooperation in various areas.

Last time Putin and Lula da Silva talked by phone on May 26. Then the President of Brazil shared his impressions of participating in the G7 summit, which was held in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Lula da Silva also outlined his vision of possible mediation efforts to find ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. Putin, in turn, reaffirmed the Russian Federation’s openness to dialogue on Ukraine.
