Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, November 24, held an operational meeting with permanent members of the Security Council via videoconference. The Kremlin press service spoke about this.
Opening the meeting, the head of state proposed discussing some aspects of the activities of Russian foreign institutions.
Putin also brought up for discussion the organization of further interaction with Russia’s closest neighbors in the post-Soviet space.
The first speaker on these topics was Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Earlier, Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov commented on the decision of the Finnish authorities to close almost all checkpoints on the border with Russia, as well as statements by Norway and Estonia on this topic. Peskov expressed hope that the relationship between the Russian Federation and unfriendly Western countries will not reach the state of the new “Iron Curtain”.
At the same time, Peskov emphasized that Moscow is ready for dialogue with Western countries on strategic stability, but it cannot take place in the format “reading the notations of one country to another country”.
