Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Transitional President of Mali, Assimi Goita, reported Kremlin press office. The dialogue took place at the initiative of the Malian side, bilateral cooperation was discussed, including the supply of Russian wheat, fertilizers and fuel to Mali.
“Actual topics of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest were discussed. Particular attention is paid to trade and economic ties, including the supply of Russian wheat to Mali, as well as fertilizers and fuel,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
During the conversation, Goita thanked Putin for humanitarian assistance, assistance in ensuring security, neutralizing the terrorist threat and stabilizing the situation throughout Mali. The mutual intention to further strengthen friendly Russian-Mali relations was also confirmed, the Kremlin added.
Putin last time called up with Goita last October.
