Putin extended the term of civil service to two deputy foreign ministers

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended for one year the term of civil service for two deputy foreign ministers – Mikhail Bogdanov and Alexander Grushko. Relevant order published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Bogdanov is 70 years old. From June 2011 is Deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Since 2012, Bogdanov has been the special representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East. Since 2014 – Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa. The website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says that Bogdanov oversees issues of Russia’s relations with the countries of the Middle East and Africa, interaction with Russian Muslim organizations, the problems of the Syrian settlement, etc.
Grushko is 67 years old. He held the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2012. Grushko has again taken the same position since January 2018. On the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs saidthat he oversees issues of relations with European countries, pan-European cooperation, interaction with the EU, OSCE, NATO and the Council of Europe.
Last fall, Putin signed a law that provides for the possibility of extending beyond the age limit of 65 years and up to 70 years of civil service for leaders from the main group of positions in federal departments subordinate to the government.
