Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the term of the federal civil service until January 31, 2024 to his special envoy for environmental protection, ecology and transport Sergey Ivanov, such order published on the Legal Information Portal.
January 31 Ivanov turns 70 years old.
In November 2022, Putin signed law, which provides for the possibility of raising the retirement age from 65 to 70 years for officials replacing the position of the “heads” category of the highest group of positions. The norm applies, among other things, to civil servants of this category in the apparatus of the Federation Council and the State Duma, in federal and regional executive authorities.
At the same time, in March 2021, Putin signed a law that removes the age limit of 70 years for civil servants for officials appointed by them, in particular ministers, heads of law enforcement agencies and others.
Sergei Ivanov took over as Special Presidential Envoy for Ecology and Transport in August 2016. Prior to that, he served as Head of the Presidential Administration, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.
