Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to King Charles III of Great Britain (throne name Charles) in connection with the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Kremlin press service reports.
“The most important events in the recent history of the United Kingdom are inextricably linked with the name of Her Majesty. For many decades, Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her subjects, as well as authority on the world stage. I wish you courage and perseverance in the face of this heavy, irreparable loss,” says in a telegram published by the press service.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away earlier today at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace reported. The flag is flown at half mast over the palace. The UK has declared national mourning for 10 days. After the queen’s death, her 73-year-old son Charles, who took the name of Charles III, took the throne. The formal proclamation ceremony for Charles as King of Great Britain will take place at St James’s Palace in London as soon as possible.
