Putin expects the Laotian President to visit Russia in October

Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith is due to come to Russia in October. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a meeting with Laotian Vice President Pani Yathothu on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
“I ask you to convey my warmest wishes to the President of Laos. We hope to see him in Russia, in my opinion, in October,” the Russian leader said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Earlier, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov reportedthat Yathotu will take part in the plenary session WEF together with Putin on September 12. According to him, Far Eastern issues and international issues will be discussed at the meeting. Before this, there will be a separate meeting between Putin and Yathotu. The Russian President will also meet with Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Guoqing.
Eastern Economic Forum was first held in 2015. It was organized by order of Putin. The main objective of the EEF was stated to be strengthening ties between the international investment community, Russian entrepreneurs, federal, regional and local authorities, and a comprehensive expert assessment of the economic potential of the Far East. This year the EEF takes place from September 10 to 13 in Vladivostok.
