Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to serve as head of state despite the start of the election campaign, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov said. Earlier today, December 18, Vladimir Putin filed to the Central Election Commission (CEC) documents for participation in the Russian presidential elections, which will be held in 2024.
“No, he (Vladimir Putin.— “Ъ”) is absolutely not required by law to take any vacation, he is fulfilling his duties as president. Therefore, there is no such need,” Dmitry Peskov told TASS.
Vladimir Putin on his intention to run for a fifth presidential term announced December 8th. On December 16, his decision was unanimous supported initiative group of voters. The current president of Russia intends to participate in the elections as a self-nominated candidate. The Russian presidential elections will be held over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024.
