Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, October 16, held a series of telephone conversations dedicated to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. The Russian leader discussed this topic with his colleagues from Syria, Iran, Palestine and Egypt.
As the Kremlin press service clarified, all politicians agreed on the importance of achieving an early ceasefire and introducing a humanitarian truce in order to provide assistance to all those in need. At the same time, the presidents of five states admitted that the reason for the escalation was the stagnation in the Middle East settlement process.
Moscow confirmed its commitment to coordinating efforts with all constructively minded partners. Putin recalled that the Russian delegation submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council.
Before that, Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East with the leaders of the Ministry of Defense, the FSB, the SVR and the Russian National Guard. Lavrov’s deputy, Sergei Ryabkov, was present at the meeting from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
This was preceded by a telephone conversation between Putin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who stated the need to stop “the crimes that Israel is committing in Gaza”.
