The Prosecutor General’s Office must respond harshly to attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia and counteract extremism. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
“Prosecutors should be more active in counteracting extremism <...>. I ask you to respond harshly to attempts to destabilize the socio-political situation in the country, ”he said (quote according to TASS).
Putin also noted the positive dynamics in the work of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the fight against extremism, terrorism, crime and corruption.
At the end of February, speaking at the expanded board of the FSB of Russia, President instructed Department to continue work to identify those who involve Russians in extremist and terrorist groups.
Putin also called on the FSB to stop attempts to “split and weaken our society.” He noted that active actions are now being taken to use separatism, nationalism, neo-Nazism and xenophobia as weapons. Putin stressed that it is necessary to resist “all this scum.”
